RESID PASHA MUSTAFA: (1800-1858) Known as ''The Great''. One of the most important Ottoman Statesman and Diplomat of all times. Resid Mustafa was the head architect of the government reforms known as ''Tanzimat''. Extremely rare A.N by Resid Pasha, one page, oblong 4to, in French, stating `To His Majesty the King of the French - To Her Majesty the Queen - For the prosperity of their family members - For the well-being of France - For the good intelligence existing between France and the Sublime Porte - for the well-being of the civilisation´. The text written by Mustafa Resid probably correspond to his presentation, in presence of the King and Queen of France, as Ottoman Ambassador to Paris. The page has been lightly affixed to the left border to a slightly larger thin card. Overall age wear and two small pinholes. F to G £500-800 Mustafa Resid Pacha was appointed three times Ambassador to France, in 1834, 1841 and again in 1843. Resid Pasha wrote the present sentence for Louis Philippe I (1773-1850) King of France 1830-48 and his wife the Queen Maria Amalia of Naples (1782-1866).
