VALENTINO RUDOLPH: (1895-1926) Italian actor, a sex symbol of the 1920s. A good book signed and inscribed, being a hardback edition of Day Dreams, First American Edition published by MacFadden Publications Inc., New York, 1923. Signed by Valentino with an affectionate inscription in black fountain pen ink to the half title page, 'To Audrey, most charming, elusive and fascinating of Albion's daughters, with deep and sincere admiration, Rudolph Valentino'. The volume, a collection of poetry, is bound in the publisher's orange and with a gold and black title to the cover. Lacking a dust jacket (as issued). Some light age wear to the boards, the interior pages clean. Rare in this form. About VG

Provenance: Valentino inscribed the present book for Audrey Evelyn James Coats (later Pleydell-Bouverie) (1902-1968) English socialite who was photographed by Cecil Beaton for The Book of Beauty. Through her mother she was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII and herself was the illegitimate daughter of Sir Edward Grey, 1st Viscount Grey of Fallodon.
