A lot of seven silkscreen printed costume plates produced circa 1937 as part of the Museum Extension Project in Pennsylvania, a WPA (Works Progess Administration) project carried out in around 20 states from 1935-1943, of which Pennsylvania served as the model for all others. The aim of this project was to provide work for skilled artists, tradesmen, and educators who were struggling to find jobs during the Great Depression.

This lot includes: Asiatic Plate No. 33 'Tibet - Indoor'; Asiatic Plate No. 35 'Tibet - Mountain Herdsman'; Asiatic Plate No. 36 'Mongolia - Middle Class'; Asiatic Plate No. 37 'Mongolia - Upper Class'; Asiatic Plate No. 38 'Manchuria - Upper Class'; Asiatic Plate No. 42 'China - Coolie'; and Asiatic Plate No. 48 'Japan - Peasant'.

Condition: Good overall with some light foxing consistent with age. Some minor tears, creases, or staining at edges on some plates. Artwork itself is all well preserved.
