AN INDIAN LEATHER SHIELD, INDIA-AHMEDABAD,19TH CENTURY
Of circular form with slightly flared rim and domed profile, with four shield bosses in the center made of steel decorated with gold koftgari inlay.Four loose carrying loops on the back. A printed cloth label on the verso.A very similar shield is displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Please refer to that last image provided as a reference.
Dimensions: D: 21 5/8 in., (55 cm.)
Condition: Good overall, some tear at the edge, minor paint loss.
