Harav Yaakov Shamash on sefer Amudei Shlomo, a commentary of Hagaon Harav Shlomo Luria (Maharshal) on Sefer Mitzvos Hagadol (Smag), first edition. The sefer was printed by the famed kabbalist Hagaon Harav Eliyahu Loanz, author of Rinas Dodim.
The autograph of Hagaon Harav Yaakov Shamash, rebbi of the Chasam Sofer of Frankfurt, appears on both title pages. Harav Yaakov Shamash was the Rav and Rosh Yeshivah of Frankfurt during the era of the Baal Hafla’ah (1765-1785). He is mentioned on numerous occasions in letters and responsa written by his disciple the Chasam Sofer who refers to him as ‘Mori v’Rabbi’ and cites him frequently in his responsa on Shas.
Basel, 1600. First edition. 115: 89 leaves. 19.7 cm. Special title page for imperative mitzvos and prohibitions. Good condition. Antique wooden binding with clasp. Reconstructed spine.
