GERMAN WWII MOUTAIN TROOPS PHOTO ALBUM
Personal photo album belonging to a member of the Gebirgs-Pionier-Bataillon 54. The album documents the soldier's service starting in 1935 and contains approx. 180 photographs from his service in the alps training and exercising at various locations, photos of Kommandeur Major Franz Geiger, Hauptmann Schnitzler and the Brigade Kommandeur; included are some family and scenic photographs, and a 4-page leaflet 'March 1941 Our Division leaves the home war zone.' The Mountain Pioneer Battalion 54 was set up on October 8, 1936, in the Luttensee camp near Mittenwald, in Wehrkreis VII. The album is covered in cloth and decorated with an Edelweiss and Enzian.
