(1900 - 1995) Wife of Rudolf Hess. Typed letter in German, Gailenberg, 10.5.1979, one page, 7.5 x 10.5in., providing an Edward Schaefer the temporary address of her son Wolf Ruediger Hess in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in part: 'Of interest is your enclosure about the Nuremberg Trial...written in 1946. You may have read in your newspapers that an English doctor claims my husband is not my husband but a double. Which is nonsense, but we are using that statement to authorize an international team of doctors (without Americans, English, French, and Russians) for another examination and declare him unfit for prison as soon as possible. Signed Ilse Hess in blue ink. with mailing folds. With a small note in English to Mr. Schaefer, dated 7-2-1970, in part 'yesterday your short letter about the deliverance arrived me - thank you so very much. Now you can tell everything to Buz and he will tell me, when he returns. This in a terrible hurry!' Signed with her initials 'IH' in black ink.
